The Tennessee Literacy Coalition is a private,
non-profit 501(c)(3) agency established in 1982 to serve as a
statewide organizational leader in creating a fully literate
Tennessee.
A membership organization, the Coalition serves as
an advocate for adult Tennesseans who have limited
literacy skills; brokers adult literacy information and resources to
providers, learners, volunteers and businesses; and serves as a
literacy advisor to State and Federal legislators, business, and
professional organizations.
Coalition programs support literacy provider
agencies and adult learners across the state. We are the only
organization that provides resources for volunteer initiatives in
Tennessee. We are governed by a statewide Board of Directors and
our business office is located in Nashville. Volunteers provide a
variety of skills and services.
