The Tennessee Literacy Coalition will hold our annual membership meeting immediately preceding our regular Board of Directors' meeting on Friday, July 11, in the board room of St. Luke's Community House.  All individual members and provider agency members are welcome to attend.  The meeting begins at 10 a.m., with introductions followed by an overview of the Coalition's activities this past year, and plans for the upcoming year.  The annual meeting will take about an hour, and will be followed immediately by our regular Board meeting.  Please notify the Coalition office at 615-259-3700 if you plan to attend. 

 

2008 Award for Excellence Presentation

 

Congratulations to the DeNeuville Learning Center (DLC) of Memphis, whose GED program was selected to receive the Tennessee Literacy Coalition’s 2008 Award for Excellence in Adult Literacy Service.  DeNeuville is a non-profit agency in Memphis with a GED program that serves women from diverse backgrounds and cultures who are living in poverty, are unemployed or underemployed, and have not completed high school.   Staff and volunteers teach academic and computer skills in very small classroom settings, with one-on-one attention as needed.  

 

The Award was presented in Memphis on May 21 at the DeNeuville Learning Center's staff meeting.   Here are a few photos from the event:
